The Adventures at Mme. Sherri Forest

We went to Mme. Sherri Forest on June 27th, 2009. We saw a lot of fungi and animals there. And we were down at the pond, we were on the rocks, and we pretended the rocks was a spaceship.

We saw a lot of frogs. Here are just a few of them. They were great! Fantastic! They were just hopping around. Some of them were mating, too. What does mating mean? I can't really explain it.

This is Indian pond. I like going with Daddy to the Indian pond. I saw 3 beaver dams. I'm 3!
We are at the Sherri Forest house that broke a little bit. A lot a bit. We were going in the house a lot. We saw a snake in the house. A garter snake. It looked scary. At least it wasn't a king cobra. Cuz those ones really make you die. I liked being at Mme. Sherri Forest.

The Black Mountain View

It was a beautiful day when me, Mama, and Dorian and Daddy set off for an adventure on Black Mountain. Here are two views of what it looked like in two places at the top of the mountain.

I am cuddled up tight in my warm snow suit. The wind is about to kill me of cold, although I am really warm. So I put my hands up. We also found a bunch of different kinds of animal tracks. We found a bunny's, dog's, deer's, and even chipmunk's. And even bird's.

I am walking in a secret path wondering when we had to get back home. I saw a village ahead, but it was not too long. Sebastian was called "Ice Man". Dorian named hisself "Ouch" because he wore his hat and not his balaclava. It was very cold and I didn't have any balaclava and I just have one eye. I can just bounce on one eye today.

This is a really funny movie because if you look, you'll see that I am sliding down with funny parts in it.

At Black Mountain

Dorian and Sebastian are watching. There was a mountain from Mimi and Papa's house.
Look it's a really big mountain. Mimi and Papa live there. It's the biggest mountain we could see. It's so far away. This mountain is called Mt. Monadnock. That's a silly name.
Now we see a cool distance.
Now we're on a rock. The dogs were chasing us. How did you feel? Bad. Mad. One of the horrible things I noticed about the dogs is that they were running around us, unleashed. We were scared!

Putney

We found an orange salamander when we went up to Putney Mountain. I'm trying to catch it.
Look at the elephant tree! It's so big! That's why it's called the elephant tree.
We're at the top now. We're both on a rock. The same one. Guess what we found on the way to the witch's forest? Blackberries!
Look at all the beautiful mountains. One of them is the blue mountain. Can you guess which one it is?

Camping out tonight

(left to right: Me, Dorian, Daddy, cousin Emily, and her boyfriend Michael) We went camping last weekend. It was fun.
Here is the pool. I mean, wading pond.
We goed waterfalling. I was climbing on rocks with my dad. Well, it was a very good trip. It's called Bash Bish Falls. And we crossed from New York to Massachusetts on the way!

The big hike

We found blueberries. We ate them. We were at Black Mountain. These were wild blueberries.
We had a nice day.
I'm playing at the top, I think, where it's nice and rocky. My teeth and lips are blue because I was eating so much blueberries.
Look at the top view!
Wow! I can't believe how many mushrooms those were! There are 12 mushrooms.

Blogger workout

[Feel free to fire me-- this is the second event in 3 days for which I didn't have my camera. Sorry.]
We went to the Guilford library for an event of a program show and I loved it! I loved it, too! We went on a nature walk and this program show was supposed to have 2 events, but instead, the second event was in the middle of the first event. The first event was great, but the next event was just a whole game. We met a squirrel named "Squirrely Okie-Dokie Smith" who was a baby and she was so cute. And saw was drinking some milk. And we built something. A nest! We used mud, sticks, leaves, and even grass and hay. And even water! That's not true, he just thought it was made with water. We also had the game which was pretending squirrels where we pretended we were squirrels. I was Squirrely, another boy was the mom, and another boy was the dad. We had such a grand time.
Then, a picnic lunch it was. We ate and ate until we were full. The second program was about bugs. We looked at rocks to see if there were any water bugs on it. This was at a river. That was a special blogger workout.

Crazy hike

We went to the Chesterfield Gorge. We had a good time there. But the craziest part was throwing rocks into the river.
That's a biiiiiiiigg waterfall. I like it.
I'm on a rock. This is my top model pose for today.
Right here, Daddy and DeeDee are walking across a bridge. We had a wonderful time. Even when Mama scared me. But anyway, I scared her back, so that didn't matter. Come here soon!

Tiring nature walk

I wanted to go for a nature walk. So we went to the cemetery down the hill.
This is a picture of a log with icicles hanging from it. Maybe the sap was why it made them that color. Or maybe they filled them with maple syrup. Or with candy!
These were some tracks. I think it might be a kangaroo or a rabbit.
I don't know which animal made the one that looked like a hand. I bet it is a raccoon.

My kitty hat and the berry hat

What are you guys wearing around your necks? Noculars. So we could see farther. I had a compass, too. We were at Pisgah State Park. [That's Mt. Monadnock in the distance.]
I'm looking at my compass. It's telling me where I am. I'm a bit North, I think.
Oh! The leaves! Bastian's jumping. Oh! The leaves! Dorian's jumping. We built this pile of leaves at Pisgah State Park. We didn't go for a walk because I didn't want to. Because I was too tired. I was scared of hunters, too.
I threw all the leaves in the air. I had a good time. I said to Dorian, "Jumping in leaves is piles of fun!" That's from Toot and Puddle: The New Friend.

Strolling on top of the mountain

We're just about out of the car and about to begin our walking ride. Which way we needed to go is up and across. Up and left. How far it was was longer than Black Mountain. It was .5 miles. To get to Indian Pond is at Mme. Sherri Forest. And Mt. Wantastiquet.
Here's a little red eft. And after the little lion we went into the big tiger.
Here's a little cherry plant.
I'm sitting on the picnic rock. I'm looking at the pond. We saw lots of frogs and a leech-- a giant one! We saw a woodpecker.
I'm balance walking on this log.

Mt. Wantastiquet climbing is hard-- that's because it was very long

I loved this. I was walking up Mt. Wantastiquet mountain. I went with my Grandma Emily up the mountain. How long it was is 2 miles! And I did it all by myself!
Dorian's riding on Daddy's shoulders. Because he was riding on Daddy's shoulders is because he didn't walk well.
At the top I saw lots of buildings. Those buildings are way through the trees. The town is called Brattleboro!
You know what we can see over here? The river. The river is Mt. Wantastiquet River. [Ed. note: Actually, it's the West River.]
We saw our school. We also saw a cemetery. That black dot is a turkey vulture.
