Our trip

We went on a trip. I read books. We drank juice and ate snacks. And ate Mama.

Our first stop was Jamie and Kaci's house. I liked it there. I felt sick.

I'm reading The Pop-up Mice of Mr. Brice. Jamie came over to our house one time.

We went to the Natural History museum. It looks like I'm getting my head eaten off by a dinosaur skeleton. But not really. I'm just standing in front of it. I felt sicker. The Natural History museum is in Washington, DC at the Smithsonian. And we went on escalators.

That's me! That's us. We are in front of the "castle." The weather was really rainy, but now the rain has sort of stopped, but then it rained again after that.

Here's the Washington Monument you see here. That's me! We went to Washington, DC with my grandma.

We're at the Metro station. I thought it was really cool. It had lots of nice lights and escalators and machinery. Definitely lots of that. I just really liked it. I liked going on the trains and going through those stuff and going up the escalators. The place spread with excitement. It means someone spread, like, a jar of excitement jam all over it. It seemed like the future.

We went to Uncle Jack's house for the last house. I liked to call him Uncle Snack. I really liked it. We played music there and slept there and played there. We saw some ponies, real live ponies and... turtles! and egrets. We had some ice cream, too. I had cotton candy party. I had chocolate swirl! It always kept melting. I ate the cone last. They had a floppy frisbee with lots of arms. We played a game with it. How you play is that there's a fan above you and you're trying to throw the frisbee onto the fan. And then you put the fan on and it rains all over the place. When it falls off the spinning fan, you never know where it's gonna land, 'cause every time it lands in a different direction.

I liked going on the trip. It was a good time there.

Just One Day and One Night, pt. 5

Chapter 5
Funny End of the Day

They weren't so good. I'm talking about these keyboards that wouldn't work. I couldn't believe my eyes! I was in a music store and none of the keyboards work. Suddenly, one worked!
Then I went home again. And I played my bass guitar. I forgot that it was out of tune. Then all of my instruments didn't work because they haven't worked in 3,000 years.
I was skateboarding and ALL OF A SUDDEN... who should I see flying back to me, but the allosaurus in a helicopter!
The allosaurus jumped out and said, "Whew, my friend, you look older." And I said, "Yes, I'm 19 years old."
He got out his toolbox, got out his tools, and began fixing the instruments. I was skateboarding in my band room and waiting for my friends to come play in the band.

THE END

Just One Day and One Night, pt. 4

Blue was walking around when I saw everyone else gathering around a big box of PRESENTS!
As soon as I got my sword, I sorted out the numbers and turned the stegosaurus back into a stegosaurus.
And then I went home. I waited for things to happen. They happened magical and they happened fast.
All of a sudden...
I saw the allosaurus in his spaceship flying over the moon! He saw Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and even Mercury! Venus...
Neptune, Uranus and Pluto! (I knew that.) Almost every planet. He even saw the moon and the Earth. I was sad he was leaving and that he wouldn't come back. Even when Kat (my friend) was not looking...

Just One Day and One Night, pt. 3

I saw Tigger turn into a pig when the stegosaurus waved his magic wand and then I said, "Some pig! He's radiant!"

Just One Day and One Night, pt. 2

Another monster then came and made daytime. I was so happy that I fell in love.

I got a stegosaurus and a triceratops to play with the monster.

Then the monster played the accordion, I played the drum set, the triceratops played the bass guitar and the stegosaurus played the electric guitar.

And surely, the allosaurus came crashing down on top of us and said he wanted to play the keyboard and the harmonica, so we let him in the band.

*The allosaurus is a cyclops and likes to eat bagels and cheesy-wheesies!
Then a big explosion came from a hunter with a great big gun. We didn't like to look at the gun, so we ran to a hiding place behind some bushes. After that, a phone rang and the birthday monster went out to tea. After that, for a few hours, with a few minutes, and a few more seconds in it...

...the monster who made daytime made Tigger, the triceratops, stegosaurus, allosaurus, and me come over and we gave Tigger a hug after he bounced over us.

Just One Day and One Night

Last Fall, Sebastian was working with his friend Kat, a graduate student in education, on a book which he titled Just One Day and One Night. This week we will be presenting the book serially, one chapter per day. Sebastian narrated and illustrated the book and Kat did her best to write as fast as she could as the ideas flowed. Sebastian had a great time working with Kat and misses his time with her. I will copy the text for you, but you can also get a closer look by clicking on the images.

Just One Day and One Night
For Riley, Lydia, and my friends, one and all
Told and Illustrated by: Sebastian Paquette M.
Text Written by: Kat Whitledge

Once, I was finding a place to my home, but suddenly a giant monster made nighttime and I got so angry.

I went home as fast as I could and there was a giant volcano that shook the house and then the house was gone.

Then I got in my father's heart when me and my mother raced into his mouth in a race car. Then the race car went around the moon and then we saw the cow jump over the moon.

The exhaust from the race car came out of my dad's mouth and made him cough.

Calvin and Hobbes

I started reading Calvin and Hobbes because I thought it would be fun and Mama told me maybe I would like it. Do you think you are more like Calvin or Hobbes? Hobbes. Because I like to bounce! What was your favorite strip about? The machine one. It's the one that Calvin says, "It's bedtime." And he goes in all kinds of stuff. He goes in a circle of the floor and pushes a red button. And after that, he bounces off and goes through a trapdoor. Then one blue hand takes his shirt off, and an orange hand takes his pants off. And he slides into the bathtub. And then, he walks right onto a square which is another trapdoor. And his pajamas go on, Flip Flop. And he faaaaaalllllls into bed. The End. I just really liked that comic.

Minnie and Moo-- An I Can Read Book

I got Minnie and Moo from the Brooks Memorial Library. It's about two cows who were named Minnie and Moo and designed themselves as cupids. Cupids are persons who shoot arrows and if the arrow sticks somewhere it means there is love from it. They shot their arrows at wood stuff and once on a nose with love poems. On the front of the arrows were suction cups so it wouldn't hurt. Nobody fell in love, though. I would like to read more Minnie and Moo books.

There's a snowman. I open it. It's for all me.
I open my book and throw it away. Tools down there. Peanut butter jam. Pumpkin pie! I like the pumpkin pie! [Makes eating noises.]

Fantastic Mr. Fox

I read this today. I got it from the library. It's as long as 18 chapters!
Fantastic Mr. Fox is trying to get saved because three nasty farmers are trying to kill him. So, he digs down deep under the ground. Well, he helps Badger and the smallest of his four children (just one of them). He helps them by sneaking into each of the three farmers' farms and gets everything they need ready for their party. They are having a party with food and lots and lots of exciting stuff. I think.
My favorite part of the story was the beginning. And the middle. He was funny when he was trying to dig and the farmers were digging, too. The hill got crazier looking and crazier.
I liked it because some pictures looked funny like that cover. I really like Roald Dahl. He also writed The Magic Finger that I liked. I would give this book to 7 stars.

Nate the Great-- Grrr!

I read this book today, right after lunch. It's called Nate the Great by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat. It's about solving a problem. The problem was they had to find Annie's lost picture of her dog, Fang. What happened was that her little brother, Harry, had made it into a monster with red paint so it would turn into orange. How it turned orange was with some red paint. Annie painted it with yellow paint. How they figured out what happened was by looking at the picture and saw that all three others were red and that one was orange and that was very strange. Who figured it out was Nate the Great and Annie.
I just liked all of it. Will you others please read that same book? I might get another Nate the Great story from especially a book store, I think. Or from a library.

Readin' on the go

I'm reading about Poppleton. Poppleton the pig. Poppleton Has Fun is the title. There were 3 stories. My favorite was "The Soak." It says that Poppleton, when he is feeling happy, a bath soak would make him happier. All the stories are: "The Movie" then "The Quilt" then "The Soak." The book next to me is called The Great Fuzz Frenzy. It is fun. Except part of the story is bad. Big Bark is a mean dog, but then he becomes a nice dog.
DeeDee's reading something. Dorian's reading Dr. Seuss's ABC. He pulls out a lot of books. And I help him clean up. He's happy when he's reading and he's happy in this picture. Next to the pillow he's reading on is called Mouse Paint. That's one of the books I like to read.

We read about in the car. I mostly read Giggle Bugs. Dorian likes to read Giggle Bugs, too. Dorian reads it the least. We're gonna bring new books in the car when we go to Philadelphia. When we are going there is tomorrow! What books I want to bring in the car is Mouse Count and one more book, which is called Mice and Beans.

The books that I've never seen before

There was never a book that I've seen while I was a baby inside Mama's tummy. Because of the tub-- the bathtub. I've been reading a lot of books. Too many books! Millions of books!! I got this book that you could read in my kit. It's called Chester's Way. It's about lots of things about Lilly and Victor but not so much about Victor, just when he moves into the neighborhood. And it's about Wilson and about Chester. I like all of the book.
